Autonomy level

How much a robot does on its own, from full manual control to full independence.

There is no single official scale for robots, so vendors use their own. In practice you can place a robot in one of four modes: remote controlled by a person, assisted (the person gives goals and the robot handles the details), supervised autonomy (the robot works alone and asks for help when stuck), and full autonomy.

Most commercial service robots today are in the third mode. Ask how often a person has to step in, how quickly a remote operator can respond, and whether that support is included in the price. This directly affects your staffing cost.
