AGV (automated guided vehicle)
A transport vehicle that follows a fixed route marked by tape, magnets, or QR codes.
An AGV does not decide where to go, it follows a guide laid in the floor or on it. It is simple, cheap to run and very predictable, which suits repetitive hauling between two fixed points in a factory.
The downside is rigidity. If something stands on the track, the vehicle stops and waits. If your layout changes often, an AMR is usually the better choice, and if the route never changes, an AGV can be the more economical one.
